Defending champion Jason Bohn fired seven birdies but still found himself a shot behind Mark Brooks after the opening round of the BC Open in New York.

Bohn, a year after setting a BC Open record of 24 under par at the En-Joie Golf Club in Endicott, carded a six-under 66 to trail former PGA champion Brooks, who fired a 65.

The tournament has been held at En-Joie for 35 years but flooding earlier this summer forced officials to move this year's event to Turning Stone Resort's Atunyote Course, a par-72, 7,315-yard lay-out.

Harrison Frazar had seven birdies and a bogey and is also one shot back.
