Bolger's impressive record set to carry on with Aaroness

RACING PREVIEW:THIS EVENING'S Silver Flash Stakes at Leopardstown is upgraded to Group Three status for the first time, but the old policy of siding with Jim Bolger in this race can pay off again with Aaroness.

The former champion trainer has won the Silver Flash in three of the last nine years and he looks to have another promising filly in his hands with Aaroness, who won by five easy lengths on her last start at Tipperary.

She had Glisten behind her in second, and that one has boosted the form since, although it is significant that Glisten's trainer, David Wachman, is double-handed with Chintz and Again today.

Wachman's Silver Flash record is pretty impressive too, with two wins in the last five renewals, and Chintz will be a useful form guide to the highly-rated Phoenix Stakes candidate Shimah, who beat her easily at the Curragh.

Dermot Weld has something of a dark horse in Luminous Eyes, who beat colts on her second start at Roscommon, but preference is still for the Bolger runner.

Aaroness is the only one of three Coolcullen entries to take her chance and the impression she made at Tipperary was considerable.

Wachman may have better luck in the Listed Challenge Stakes with Always Beautiful. The daughter of Kingmambo looked unlucky to be not at least placed after being hampered a couple of times in the Noblesse Stakes at Cork, and that form doesn't look too bad following Ice Queen's Oaks exploits.

Profound Beauty was second there and has won a handicap since, while the Roscommon winner Raydiya should guarantee a good pace that will make every pound count to the topweight Peppertree Lane.

A red-hot pace would certainly favour Merveilles, but Always Beautiful is having only her fourth start and looks a type to progress.

The Weld-Pat Smullen team are always to be feared in Leopardstown's Premier Handicaps, and Central Station could be good enough to land tonight's off a 102 rating.

Central Station followed a Gallinule Stakes third with a seventh in the Hampton Court at Royal Ascot, where he appeared to race quite freely in the early stages. If he settles better this time the nine-furlong trip could be ideal.

John Murtagh is an eye-catching riding arrangement for Man Of Iron in the mile maiden, considering the colt was well beaten on his debut. But also noteworthy is the presence of a Bolger-trained newcomer by Galileo called Gan Amhras.

Down in Killarney, there will also be plenty of interest in Tony Martin's booking of Ruby Walsh for the course hurdles winner Northern Alliance in the mile-and- six-furlong maiden on the flat.

Bantry Commons is a useful bumper horse who should have plenty of toe for a race like this, but the Walsh-Martin team is hard to resist in this context.

Shesthebiscuit returned to action with a good second at Limerick last month and can be fancied in the fillies handicap.
