It was only 10 minutes but for former Scotland captain Eric Peters, last weekend's brief trot in the Harlequins-Northampton game represented a significant milestone. Peters sustained a horrific knee injury in a collision with Leicester fullback Tim Stimpson. Their knees collided and Peters looked down and thought that he had two kneecaps in the same leg.
His kneecap had basically shattered into fragments. Two operations and enough wire and plates to send a metal detector ballistic seemed to put him on the road to recovery. Just as things were looking up he received another huge setback: last March he was diagnosed as having testicular cancer. Peters has shown incredible determination and character to fight his way back, his courage rewarded by game time last Saturday week.
