Liam Browne yesterday won his appeal against the decision by the acting stewards at Galway on July 28th not to award the Compaq Services Maiden to his Omni Cosmo Touch following an inquiry.
The stewards had looked into possible interference involving the winner, Grand Ambition, Omni Cosmo Touch, which was beaten by a short head, and third-placed Sukeena, but made no alteration to the judge's placings.
Evidence was heard from Jamie Spencer, rider of Omni Cosmo Touch, Sukeena's jockey Kevin Manning and Pat Smullen, rider of Grand Ambition, stewards' secretary Paul Hensey and Browne.
Videos of the race head-on, side-on and scout were also viewed.
Having considered the evidence, the Appeals and Referrals Committee was satisfied that the interference caused by Grand Ambition had improved his placing and therefore decided to allow the appeal and ordered that the placings of the first and second horse be reversed.
Sunshine Street is set to miss the Geoffrey Freer Stakes at Newbury on Saturday in order to renew rivalry with Make No Mistake in the Royal Whip Stakes at the Curragh.
