Carlow held out for single point win over Kildare at Newbridge on Saturday to qualify for a Leinster MFC quarter-final date with Laois. Kildare got the first score but it was the only time they lead.

Two points by David Walker put Carlow into the lead and Niall Maher helped them to a 1-4 to 0-2 interval advantage with a goal in the 16th minute.

Willie Minchin struck for Carlow's second goal early in the second half but wind assisted Kildare rallied and a Brian Collins goal brought them back into contention.
