FAI Cup, third round replay Bohemians 0 Shamrock Rovers 2Two goals, the second a mesmerising solo effort, from David Cassidy, and a rousing penalty save from Barry Murphy, gave Shamrock Rovers one of their sweetest wins over arch-rivals Bohemians in recent times to put the First Division leaders through to the quarter-finals of the FAI Cup.

Initially lacking the intensity of Friday's first game, the pattern was much the same with Bohemians taking the game to their visitors in a dreadfully poor first half, the wonder of which was that Rovers found themselves in front at the interval having scored with their only effort on target in first-half stoppage time.

The Bohemians defence hadn't looked secure in the little it had had to do prior to that, and perhaps a lack of focus contributed to the concession of a soft goal.

Rovers left back Robbie Clarke put Tadhg Purcell away down the left. The low cross wasn't dealt with and Gerard Rowe helped the ball on to Cassidy who got the ball onto his left foot to drill it low past Stephen O'Brien.

Having had plenty to ponder during the break - having dominated possession on a corner count of 7-0 - there was far more impetus in the final third from Bohemians on the resumption.

Rovers' defender Ian Ryan's misdirected header from Stephen Ward's cross looped onto his crossbar, then Mark Leech availed of a defensive slip to burst through on goal from Thomas Heary's ball over the top, only to get right under his shot and blaze it way off target.

Murphy, who'd had little to do in the first half despite Bohemians' possession, then came into his own to keep Rovers in front.

A brave save at the feet of Ward was followed seconds later, on 53 minutes, by a terrific penalty save.

John Paul Kelly ran at the Rovers defence to force the trip from Ger O'Brien inside the box to the delight of the Bohemians faithful in the main stand. To their immediate horror, however, it was the Rovers' fans on the far side who were jumping up and down in glee after Murphy dived to his right to brilliantly push away Farrelly's spot kick.

The best was to come for the Rovers' support, however, on 72 minutes. Cassidy took possession on the corner of the area and ran past three static Bohemians defenders before blasting the ball to the net from 14 yards to put the gloss on Rovers' night.
