Glenealy, the Wicklow champions, were reduced to 13 players as Castletown of Laois advanced to meet the Dublin champions in the next round after a bad-tempered encounter at Aughrim.

Rows between players erupted on a number of occasions, the worst coming in the second half when, as play continued, a couple of players and substitutes became embroiled on the sideline.

Leighton Glynn went to the line in the first quarter after receiving his second yellow card.

Castletown, who were playing against the wind in the opening period, led 2-5 to 0-5 at the break.
