SCRUM-HALF Enda Cawley was CBC Monkstown's hero as they negotiated a safe passage past Templeogue College in yesterday's second round replay of the Leinster Schools' Junior Cup at Castle Avenue.

Cawley's equalising penalty in last Thursday's 6-6 game had earned Monkstown a reprieve, and they were able to build on that to good effect with Cawley accounting for all of Monkstown's 11 points.

The all-important score came two minutes before the interval when the vice-captain made a diagonal run into the corner following a five-yard scrum.

Although unsuccessful with the conversion. he was given the opportunity to stretch the lead to eight points on half-time with a penalty from the 22 metre line.

Another successful kick, with just over 10 minutes remaining, put it up to Templeogue and, to their credit, they responded admirably with a good spell of pressure under the Monkstown posts.

However, some tactical blunders and some resolute defending denied them a quarter-final meeting with Newbridge.

World champions South Africa will play two Tests in both Argentina and France later this year. They play Argentina on November 9th and November 16th and France on November 30th and December 7th.
