Munster Junior Cup final / CBC, Cork 8 Ard Scoil Ris 3:  Christian Brothers College, Cork, toppled the champions in an exciting Munster Schools' Junior Cup final at Musgrave Park yesterday, but they left it late to score the match-winning try.

CBC did, however, deserve victory. After playing second fiddle for most of the opening half, they created all the second-half try-scoring opportunities. They crossed the Ard Scoil Rís line twice, but could not ground the ball and two forwards lost possession with the line at their mercy on other occasions.

Finally, the hero was second row Shane Walsh who broke away from a maul to cross for a try five minutes from the end.

Earlier, Declan O'Rahily kicked a penalty for the Ard Scoil and Paul Gleeson came close to scoring. But CBC's Cormac Horgan kicked a 12th-minute penalty and the issue was in doubt up to full-time.
