SCHOOLS RUGBY/CBC Cork 18 Ardscoil Ris 6:CBC CORK collected their 16th Munster Schools Junior Cup and their first since 2006 with a deserved win over Limerick city's Ardscoil Rís in glorious conditions at Musgrave Park in Cork city yesterday.
Christians led 15-3 at half-time, scoring two tries in the closing 10 minutes through powerful secondrow Evan Mintern and scrumhalf Jamie Murphy, with outhalf Michael O’Halloran kicking a penalty and a conversion.
Ardscoil outhalf David O’Mahony kicked a penalty to make it 3-3 after eight minutes and added a second six minutes into the second half, but it was all Christians after that.
O’Halloran stretched the advantage with a second penalty in the 55th minute following a spell of sustained pressure, featuring outstanding flanker Shane O’Hanlon.
