Longford SHC Final/Clonguish 3-15 Longford Slashers 4-6: Longford football star Paul Barden produced a man-of-the-match performance as Clonguish captured the JJ Duignan Cup for the second successive year at Pearse Park yesterday.
Barden scored 1-3 and his goal goal late in the first half helped Clonguish lead 2-7 to 1-3 at the break. Enda Corcoran scored the winners' first goal in the 23rd minute and he struck again after the interval to extend Clonguish's lead to 3-10 to 1-3. But Slashers never gave up the battle and they added three more goals to their tally before the finish.
