September '94: "Shocked." - when asked for his reaction after Derry failed to reappoint him as manager.

May 12th, 1996: "This time next year we'll take some beating. Remember this boat is only six months launched." - as Longford manager after his adopted county ran Wicklow to a point in the Leinster championship.

May 14th, 2000: "Ah, next Saturday doesn't really matter. League final was last week . . . it's gone, doesn't matter to us. - after beating Cavan in the first round of the championship, six days before the league final replay with Meath, which they went on to win.
