SENIORS TOUR: England's Neil Coles fired a one under par 70 and then defeated England's David Creamer and America's Steve Stull at the fourth hole of a sudden death play-off at the Lawrence Batley Seniors tournament at Huddersfield.

It was Coles' 46th victory of a professional career that began in 1950 and it also extended his own record as the oldest winner on the European Seniors Tour.

Coles was 65 and 10 months old when he secured his previous victory at the 2000 Microlease Jersey Seniors Open and he extended that record to an incredible 67 and nine months.

The former Ryder Cup star three-putted his 53rd hole for a bogey and then failed to get a birdie down the 487-yard par five 54th.

But in extra time he proved his true worth. All three competitors parred the first three extra holes before Stull dropped out with a bogey on the next.

Now it was down to a classic head to head encounter which Coles settled when he hit a five iron to five feet down the 147yard eighth hole and then rolled in the putt to win the €20,022 first prize.

Earlier, Ireland's Denis O'Sullivan finished one shot out of the play off when he carded a one under par 70 for a three round aggregate of 210 while Liam Higgins matched the low round of the week when he closed with a five under par 66 for a three-round aggregate of level par 213.

CHALLENGE TOUR: American Scott Kammann staged a blistering finish to steal victory in the Open des Volcans from under the nose of Belgian teenager Nicolas Colsaerts and Marcello Santi of Italy.

Kammann trailed Colsaerts by three strokes with three to play, but finished eagle-birdie-birdie for 67 to set the target at 270, 14 under par.

Ireland's Peter Lawrie seemed on course for another low score but three bogeys in the closing five holes saw him sign for 70. It left the Dubliner in joint 25th place on 280, four under par, but with the consolation of knowing he has climbed from 21st to 19th on the Challenge Tour Order of Merit. Damien McGrane also signed for 70 and 279 and also advanced on the Order of Merit by one place to 55th.

WOMEN'S TOUR: The final round of the ShopRite LPGA Classic started with Juli Inkster as the leader. By the halfway point, Kate Golden held the lead. And at the end of the day, it was Annika Sorenstam (right) walking away with the victory, following a five-under-par round of 66. This marks Sorenstam's sixth victory of the season and makes her the player to beat going into this week's U.S. Women's Open. Sorenstam finished on 12 under par with Carin Koch, Golden and Inkster tieing for second place at nine under par.

US TOUR:Glen Hnatiuk, a 37-year-old Canadian playing in his fourth PGA Tour season, extended his lead at the St Jude Classic, in Memphis, chipping in for birdie twice en route to his third straight six-under-par 65 and a four-stroke cushion after three rounds.

Hnatiuk was four shots ahead of 2000 champion Notah Begay III (68), Matt Kuchar (67) and rookie Tom Petrovic (66).
