St Conleth's proved that a little organisation goes a long way when they got past Mount Temple in the Leinster Schools Section A Junior tie at Wanderers ground in Merrion Road yesterday. They channelled the ball so effectively in the second half that Mount Temple were forced on the back foot in a game that said as much for honest endeavour as for anything else.

Nonetheless, the early signs where not promising for Conleth's when Mount Temple captain Steve Jones evaded a tackle to cut in just to the left of the post with 15 minutes gone. To compound matters, Conleth's lost right wing Eoin Fennelly shortly after the recess, while wing forward Blake O'Donnell was to forced spend much of the first half attending to a nose bleed.

But indications of a revival were borne shortly before the interval when a lovely take by centre Ian Lavelle saw the three-quarter charge towards the line, only to be denied yards out.

Conleth's finally made their mark when out-half Barry Rogerson knocked over a straightforward penalty on 35 minutes, and moments later a run on the short side saw the captain dart over for a score. He put the game beyond doubt with his second successful kick with just minutes remaining.
