Oireachtas SHC Final: Cork won the first Oireachtas Hurling Final in seven years with an impressive win over Galway at Páirc Uí Rinn yesterday. Cork didn't start any of their All-Ireland winning team, though substitutes Kieran Murphy and Neil Ronan lined out, while Galway had seven of their side from the decider.

The home side led 1-6 to 0-7 at the interval - Stephen O'Sullivan pouncing on a mistake by Tony Óg Regan to score the goal after 16 minutes. Ger Farragher was Galway's most prominent player in the half, scoring three points, including one from a sideline cut.

The All-Ireland champions took control after the break, adding 1-5 inside eight minutes. Graham Callinan began the sequence with a fine point and Ronan ended it by pouncing on Michael Naughton's delivery to score Cork's second goal. Fergal Healy responded with Galway's sole point.

Ronan claimed his second, and Cork's third, after 46 minutes to stretch their lead to 3-12 to 0-8 before Farragher goaled from a free, awarded following a hefty challenge on Conor Kavanagh, who was taken off on a stretcher.
