Limerick SHC: Andrew O'Shaughnessy recently picked up his first All Star award but he will have to wait another year at least to add a Limerick county senior hurling championship medal after Kilmallock were beaten 1-13 to 1-8 by Croom in their semi-final meeting at the Gaelic Grounds.
Croom, seeking their first county title since 1941, led 0-10 to 0-5 at the interval, with Hugh Flavin, Steve Cahill, Marcus Cregan and Stephen Moore their main marksmen, O'Shaughnessy having claimed four of his side's five from placed balls.
Owen Ryan had Kilmallock in the hunt with a 31st-minute point, but Moore found the net on 37 minutes to consolidate Croom's position. With 10 minutes left, O'Shaughnessy goaled at the other end from a penalty to revive their hopes. Two more points from substitute John Barry made life more comfortable for the winners.
In the other semi-final, Adare had it all their own way in disposing of Murroe-Boher 0-24 to 2-8 having led 0-12 to 1-4 at the break. The final will take place on Sunday week.
