The Scottish referee Hugh Dallas will take charge of the Old Firm game at Celtic Park on December 27th despite Celtic informing the Premier League of their reservations.

The controversial appointment was backed by Scottish Premier League officials at a meeting yesterday despite concerns being raised by Celtic.

The last time Dallas took charge of a league fixture between the Glasgow rivals in May, he was struck by a coin thrown from the stands by a Celtic supporter. A brick was also thrown through the window of his home.

Rangers won the game 3-0 to clinch the championship at Celtic Park for the first time in their history, although their victory was overshadowed by disgraceful scenes both on and off the pitch.
