Co Donegal driver Damien Daulkner finished second in the Formula Audi Palmer championship race at Brands Hatch yesterday, a good result following his first win in the new series the previous Sunday at Donington Park. The Moville man's next championship outing is at Pembrey in Wales next Sunday.

Dublin's Neil Shanahan scored his fifth Formula Ford Zetec race win at Mondello Park yesterday to consolidate his lead in the Ford of Ireland Championship. And in Formula Opel, Michael Keohane from Clonakilty scored his first win in the premiership, beating championship leader Jason Pollock of Carrickfergus with another up-and-coming driver Mark Kershaw, from Brittas, Co Dublin third.

Most of the Formula VEE `A' race, won by Ray Moore, was run behind the safety car after an accident.

English crew Pete Doughty and Lyn Jenkins gave their new Ford Escort World Rally Car (WRC) a successful debut in yesterday's Tipperary Stonethrowers' Rally run out of Clonmel.
