Derry - 0-14 Cavan - 0-10An injury picked up just before half-time by Cavan's star mid-fielder Paddy Brady proved in the end to be the difference at Enniskillen yesterday.
Despite the strong winds and heavy rain, Derry always kept a grip on proceedings and used the more direct approach to good effect with all six of their forwards getting on the score sheet.
At half-time, Derry led by 0-7 to 0-6, but a bright start to the second half that yielded five points, including two each from James Bateson and Barry McGoldrick, sent them on the road to victory.
Cavan put in a storming finish and forced three successive 45s in the closing minutes, all of which came to nothing.
