AIRTRICITY LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION Derry City 2 UCD 1:DERRY CITY returned to the summit of the Premier Division table by one point last night – but they found UCD a tough nut to crack at the Brandywell.

UCD held a 1-0 lead for 71 minutes before Derry finally broke their resistance with a goal from Kevin Deery, before substitute David McDaid side-footed the winner home with eight minutes remaining.

UCD stunned the big Brandywell crowd when they broke the deadlock in the 17th minute, a four -man move culminating in striker Graham Rusk firing home.

Derry’s sustained pressure finally paid off in the 70th minute when Barry Molloy fed Eamon Zayed and when he laid the ball back into the path of Deery, the captain finished with aplomb.
