PGA TOUR:Chris DiMarco set the clubhouse target with a six-under-par 64 in the Travelers Championship at the TPC River Highlands Cromwell, Connecticut yesterday before play was suspended because of bad weather.

DiMarco, who started on the 10th, fired five birdies as he went to the turn in 31 to lead from a group of five on 65 including Carl Pettersson and Kenny Perry.

Pádraig Harrington with 71 and Darren Clarke on 72 are both well off the pace. Harrington, who started at the 10th, dropped shots a the 12th, 14th and 15th in an outward half of 38 but hit back with birdies at the sixth and eighth for his 71.

Clarke mixed four bogeys with two birdies in halves of 35 and 37 for his 72.

CHALLENGE TOUR: Donegal's Mick McGeady ignored a six-hour weather delay to storm into contention at the European Challenge Tour's Credit Suisse Challenge.

After a thunder and lightning storm that brought torrential rain to the par-73 Wylihof Golf Club in Switzerland, McGeady put together six birdies and just a single dropped shot for a five-under-68 to move into a tie for fourth place, two behind clubhouse leaders Carlos del Moral of Spain and Argentina's Julio Zapata.

Alone in third place, two shots back, is Scotland's Andrew McArthur who shot a six-under-par 67.

Half the field will complete their first rounds this morning, including Stephen Browne and Michael Hoey.

LET TOUR: England's Rebecca Hudson shot a bogey-free five-under-par 67 to establish a one-shot lead over Trish Johnson and Sweden's Lotta Wahlin in the first round of the Vediorbis Open de France Dames at Le Golf D'Arras in Aubin yesterday.

The 28-year-old from Doncaster made a fast start with birdies at the first and sixth holes to make the turn in two-under-par 34 and added three birdies in a back nine of 33.

Rebecca Coakley is three behind after a 70 while Claire Coughlan spoiled a good round with a treble-bogey eight at the fifth in a first round 76. Martina Gillen dropped five shots in four holes from the 13th on her way to a first round of 79.
