Ireland's remaining competitor in the world amateur snooker championship, T.J. Dowling, made his exit from the last 16 in the competition when he lost to England's Stewart Bingham in Zimbabwe yesterday.

Dowling made the early running with breaks of 46 and 56 before the holder responded with a 112 clearance to leave it 2-2 at the interval.

Dowling was then 25 points ahead with 22 left on the table in frame five but Bingham countered with a successful snooker to win the frame by a point and after that it was curtains for the Irish champion.

T.J. Dowling (Ire), lost to S Bingham, England, 5-2. Scores - Dowling 80-38 (46 break) Dowling 25-71 73-32, 56 break Dowling, 6-136, 112 clearance Bingham, 56-57 18-60 43-61.
