Five-time Irish golf champion Claire Dowling, who will captain the British and Irish team for the Espirito Santo Trophy (world team championship) in Chile in November, has also been named as captain of the side to meet the Continent of Europe in the Vagliano Trophy at North Berwick next year.

Dowling, who had an outstanding playing career during which time she won the Irish close five times and the British women's strokeplay title in 1986 and played in four Curtis Cup matches, will captain the side in the match which takes place at the Scottish links on July 23rd-24th.
