Setanta Cup/Drogheda United 2 Glentoran 0:Drogheda completed a Setanta Cup double over Glentoran in a match they totally dominated. Two first-half goals with the visitors down to 10 men before the interval made United's task all the easier.

It was a busy first 45 minutes for Glentoran goalkeeper Elliott Morris who made several saves but with 30 minutes gone Stuart Byrne found Aidan O'Keeffe in space on the left side of the box and he curled his effort to the opposite corner of the net. The visitors were reduced to 10 men when Jason Hill, who was last man back and booked moments earlier, took down Eamon Zayed on the edge of the box. United made nothing of the free but struck for a second a minute from the break when Tony Grant rifled the ball home from 15 yards.

Drogheda peppered the Glens goal with no reward after the restart but then almost allowed Glentoran in for a goal as Michael Halliday's header grazed the bar and Gary Hamilton forced goalkeeper Mikko Vilmunen into action for the first time. Sixteen minutes from time Drogheda should have added a third when Zayed's shot was blocked by Philip Simpson.

DROGHEDA:Vilmunen, Lynch, Webb, Gavin, Robinson, Grant (O'Brien 70 mins), Shelley, Bradley (Whelan 70 mins), Byrne, Zayed (Fitzpatrick 80 mins), O'Keeffe.
