TITLE chasing Bohemians struggled to beat relegation threatened Drogheda at United Park last night. Bohemians scored 15 goals against this Louth side in three previous games this season, but last night they were lucky enough to get the one which won the game. Bohemians, now second in the table, trail leaders St Patrick's Athletic by two points.
The visitors always looked the better side, but they did not play with their usual fluency. In the end, it was the hard work of Brian Mooney that won them the points. None of their other attackers gave consistent performances and their defence, without the injured James Coll, looked vulnerable.
After 70 minutes, Mooney created the winner. After a good run, he crossed for Derek Swan, who scored with a header from close range Drogheda tried hard for an equaliser, but Bohemians were good enough to hold out.
