DUBLIN manager Micky Whelan has named three new players in his team for Sunday's National Football League clash with Leitrim in Carrick-on-Shannon. They are full back Darren Homan (Thomas Davis), wing forward Ciaran Whelan (Raheny) and Ray Cosgrove (Kilmacud Crokes).

John O'Leary returned to training with the squad for the first time in a number of weeks last night and is included in the squad. Notable absentees include Charlie Redmond and Paul Clarke. Redmond is taking a rest, but Clarke is again left out of the starting 15. It is understood that he will be included in the list of substitutes which will be named later in the week.

Paidi O Se has recalled goalkeeper Peter O'Leary and Liam Flaherty for Sunday's league match against Kildare. The Kerry manager also includes Denis O'Dwyer in place of the demoted Billie O'Shea in the half forward line and introduces under-21 player Donal Daly in midfield. Only Eamonn Breen and Stephen Stack hold on to their places in defence they held against Mayo in the All-Ireland semi-final.

Meanwhile, the GAA's Games Administration Committee (GAC) meets tonight to consider the referee's report and the video evidence from last month's All-Ireland football final replay. Its attentions will focus on the, by now, notorious fracas.

After a full discussion of Pat McEnaney's report and consideration of the video evidence, the GAC is likely to summon a large number of players before a subsequent meeting. The date for that meeting will he decided at tonight's session.

GAC chairman Sean O'Leary said yesterday that any findings reached as a result of tonight's deliberations will not be available for publication.

Mayo county secretary Sean Feeney was surprised yesterday to read reports that Liam McHale and Colm Coyle, the players sent off in the replay, would each receive a minimum four weeks suspension. "All I can assume is that someone leaked this in formation to the papers. We have heard nothing of the sort. The GAC can either adopt or reject the referee's report."

A one-month minimum suspension is the standard penalty for a player sent to the line for striking. It is believed that the referee's report has been at Croke Park since last Friday.

Feeney said that he had no notification to attend this evening's meeting. "In the case of a suspension being of more than two weeks duration we would be entitled to a hearing," said Feeney. "We would also be entitled to seven days notification to appear before the GAC."

Whereas McHale and Coyle are likely to remain ineligible to play before next Sunday fortnight at the earliest, other players involved in the free-for-all and who are almost certain to be called before the GAC, remain free to play for their counties in Sunday's opening rounds of the National Football League.
