Sligo R 2 Dundalk 2:TWO SECOND-HALF goals earned battling Dundalk a share of the spoils at the Showgrounds last night. Ross Gaynor and substitute Ciarán McGuigan struck in the 76th and 78th minutes.
A torrential shower prior to the kick-off left the pitch in a sodden condition. Stephen Maher was denied an early goal for the visitors when goalkeeper Richard Brush came to home side’s rescue.
Matthew Blinkhorn had Sligo’s first chance of the half in the 19th minute, but his sizzling long-range effort came to nothing.
The deadlock was broken in the 27th minute when Gary McCabe sent a rasping long-range shot past a helpless Peter Cherrie in the visitors’ goal for a goal of superb quality.
Centre back Mauro Almeida added a second for the home side in the 68th minute, but Dundalk refused to lie down.
