In what proved to be a neck-and-neck race for the finishing post, Myles Dungan never really stood a chance against jockey Francis Woods, winner by a nose of the 1997 Golf Masters' Celebrity Challenge.
Skilful use of the, er, whip, however, gave Dungan the runners-up spot, ahead of the other jockey in the field, Charlie Swan.
Remarkably, Paul McGinley has finished in fourth place despite ignoring the rules of the competition and selecting only a five-player team - if he had, somehow, managed to win the Challenge, which began back in week eight, just after the US Masters, we suspect there would have been calls for a stewards' inquiry.
Woods, who has nominated the Shane Broderick Appeal Fund as the recipient of the winning cheque for £1,000, was trailing Dungan until the European Masters in week 28 when Costantino Rocca's victory put the Seven Solicitors (whose line-up was completed by Philip Walton, Jeff Maggert, Jose Maria Olazabal, Jay Haas, Steve Webster and Mike Harwood) on top - a position they retained until the end.
And, finally, there's the bottom two, The Irish Times golf experts. Because they're away on Ryder Cup duty in Spain this week, we're free to have a good giggle behind their backs but, really, the less said the better. Tenth and 11th? Out of eleven? Sigh).
