NEWS ROUND-UP:MANCHESTER CITY captain Richard Dunne yesterday ended speculation about his future by signing a new four-year contract with the club.

The 28-year-old, whose previous contract expired next summer, had been linked with a move away from the City of Manchester Stadium.

But following talks with new manager Mark Hughes he decided to sign on at the City of Manchester Stadium until 2012.

A "delighted" Dunne told the club's official website (www.mcfc.co.uk): "My first priority is, was and always has been to stay at City because I've enjoyed it so much and I feel really settled here.

"When Mark Hughes got the job, I think everyone was really pleased and I was thrilled that he seemed to make it a priority to sort my contract out. I'm delighted to be able to stay."

Hughes added: "I'm delighted with the outcome and Richard is a really important player for us. It was one of my priorities when I took the job that I made sure that he was one of the players we needed to keep."

Dunne revealed his decision to stay came shortly after Hughes's appointment. "As soon as he did, we started to talk," Dunne said. "It was literally a couple of days and it was all done and dusted.

"I'm pleased now that it's all been signed and sealed and I can relax a bit more now and concentrate on the season ahead."

Meanwhile, Marvin Emnes yesterday joined Middlesbrough for €4.04 million on a four-year deal from Sparta Rotterdam. The 20-year-old forward was Sparta's player of the season last year and Gareth Southgate, Middlesbrough's manager, said. "We feel we have signed an exciting young player. Last year was his breakthrough season and he scored eight goals in his last 10 games.

"He can play anywhere across the front line so he's got the versatility to go with his pace, energy and technical skills. He fits the profile of the sort of players we want at Boro in that he's young, with hunger, energy and pace."

Liverpool have completed the signing of Udinese full-back Andrea Dossena. The 26-year-old Italian international has signed a four-year deal at Anfield.

Arsenal's protracted pursuit of the France international Samir Nasri will be concluded when the player signs from Marseille "in around 10 days", according to the midfielder's agent.

Nasri is currently on holiday following his involvement at Euro 2008 but is likely to replace the unsettled Aleksandr Hleb, who has attracted interest from Barcelona and Bayern Munich. Arsenal are expecting Barcelona to submit a €38 million bid for Emmanuel Adebayor, which should pave the way for the Togolese's departure.

In other transfer speculation, Sunderland are said to be preparing a €13 million joint bid for Reading's midfielder Stephen Hunt and striker Kevin Doyle.

Former Spain manager Luis Aragones had a three-hour meeting with Fenerbahce yesterday and is expected to finalise a two-year contract as coach.
