David Duval continued to dominate the US PGA Tour season-opening Mercedes Championship on day three in Kapalua, Hawaii. Duval, four times a winner on Tour last year, fired a fiveunder 68 to maintain a five-stroke lead.
He will go into the final day on 21-under (198) - well clear off Fred Funk, who also shot a third round 68.
Billy Mayfair was at 204, while Tiger Woods had the best round of the day - a 67 - that left him at 205.
"I was hoping to get back to where I could possibly see him," Woods said. "It might have been a good tournament for me if he had given me one shot for every nine holes. Then, I'd only be one back.
"I made a little run on the front nine, but I needed to play the back in about five-under to have some kind of a shot.
"It looks like that might be out of the question. Hats off to David. You would think after David shot a 63 that he would come out flat. But he's pounding away."
Woods is still ranked number one in the world but even he isn't putting much stock in that right now.
"David, Mark O'Meara and Lee Westwood, those are the guys you have to start watching every week," Woods said.
