Racing NewsPat Eddery will have his final mounts before hanging up his boots in the Beau Rivage/Air Mauritius International Jockeys' Challenge next month.
The 51-year-old signed off in Britain yesterday with five rides at Doncaster but he will enjoy one final hurrah on the sunshine island.
Eddery has never ridden a winner in Mauritius in his 36-year career despite numerous attempts in the past, and he is keen to set the record straight on his last opportunity.
"He goes to ride in Mauritius on December 7th in an invitational event but he's not going there to ride any specific horses. He's also taking his family on holiday there," his agent Mike Hawkett said yesterday.
There had been speculation that Eddery would ride at Capannelle in Rome next Sunday. "It's a possibility he could ride in Rome but nothing has been confirmed," Hawkett added.
The 11-times champion has been on a farewell tour of British racecourses since he announced his intention to retire back in June.
Eddery, who had ridden 4,632 domestic winners, received a big and slightly chaotic send off from his weighing room colleagues yesterday, having his clothes cut in two and his boots filled with cream cakes.
Hawkett said that Eddery had been touched by the reactions of racegoers and colleagues alike.
