American Meg Mallon shot a final round three-under-par 69 to win the du Maurier Classic at Royal Ottawa yesterday.

Mhairi McKay was the best of the British players in joint-13th place on four over par at 292 - but she would have been 11th and $2,000 richer if she had not been given a two-shot penalty for slow play that turned a 72 into a 74.

Laura Davies - who had a third round of 79 - finished last of the qualifiers on a 23-over-par 311 following an 83.

Mallon, winner of back-to-back Majors in 1991, notched up number three with a six-under-par 282 total as she came from three behind overnight to win by one from fellow-American Rosie Jones, who had a best-of-day 68.
