Meath’s Division Two Allianz Football League clash with neighbours Cavan will go ahead as planned on Sunday afternoon despite the scoreboard at Páirc Tailteann suffering extensive damage during Storm Éowyn.
The scoreboard was blown over by severe gusts during the storm, tearing away from its foundations and tumbling backwards down the slope behind the grass bank at the Navan O’Mahony’s end of the ground.
Work has been taking place to remedy the situation before Sunday’s game against Cavan, and a mobile scoreboard from the county’s Centre of Excellence in Dunganny has been secured as a back-up option.
As the clock-hooter system will not be used in Division Two games next weekend, that particular FRC enhancement will not be an impediment to the fixture proceeding.

There was no further storm damage found elsewhere at the venue, with Meath officials saying on Tuesday morning that the game will go ahead as scheduled at Páirc Tailteann this Sunday at 2pm.
Robbie Brennan’s Meath lost their opening fixture away to Cork last weekend while Raymond Galligan’s Cavan also suffered defeat, losing at home to neighbours Monaghan.
Both Meath and Cavan will be eager to pick up points on Sunday, as consecutive defeats in the opening rounds of the league would raise relegation concerns.
