Clare 2-11 Waterford 0-3 Waterford made the long and arduous journey to Miltown-Malbay and came away empty-handed, as they were given a drubbing by home-side Clare who now go forward to face Tipperary away, in the semi-final, in a week's time.
Clare opened the scoring with a Keelan Sexton pointed free after three minutes. And by the 12th, they lead by 0-3 to no score with further scores by corner-forward Eimhin Courtney and Sexton once more. It took until the 21st for Waterford to open their account when Jason Gleeson landed a point.
Clare goaled through Jamie Malone in the 25th minute after some good work by Martin O'Leary and never looked back from then out. They led at the break by 1-4 to 0-2. After half-time they took up where they left off.
A point by Sexton followed by another Malone goal effectively killed off Waterford’s challenge.
The visitors only managed one more score to add to their half-time total of two when midfielder Séamus Keating kicked a point with his left foot in the 51st minute.
