A 34th minute goal from Tom Devlin proved pivotal as St Jude’s defeated Lucan Sarsfields by 1-16 to 1-11 in their Dublin Senior Hurling Championship semi-final at Parnell Park last night.

In doing so, the Templeogue outfit advanced to their second successive decider and they started brightly through a brace of points from the lively Joey McManus and further scores by Danny Sutcliffe and Fionn Ó Riain Broin.

However, the momentum of the game turned when Kevin O’Reilly netted from a twenty-metre free at the end of the first quarter with Chris Crummey adding his second point of the night to level matters soon after.

O’Reilly added three more points before the break with Sean McClelland, Tommy Somers and Johnny McCaffrey helping push Lucan four points clear at half-time.

Devlin’s goal helped turn the tide in Jude’s favour and with scores at a premium after the break, Ó Riain Broin landed two key late scores for the winners.
