Irish Senior Cup champions Shandon Park added the European title to their list of achievements when they won the Albacom Trophy at Parco de Medici golf club near Rome yesterday.

Shandon Park's total of 579 for the four rounds left them two strokes clear of joint runners-up Racing Club de France from Paris and Noordwijk from The Hague, Netherlands.

Michael Hoey, Philip Purdy and Gary Wardlow did the job for Shandon Park and Purdy also finished third in the individual event with a total of 287 - three over par for the four rounds - two behind the winner Jean Jacques Wolff of France and one behind runner-up Maarten Van den Berg of the Netherlands.

A third round 67 by Hoey was the vital round in Shandon Park's win while Purdy added a final round 73 to his 71, 73, 70.
