Marcus Kinhult remains on course to claim his second DP World Tour title and first since 2019 as he heads into the final round of the Alfred Dunhill Championship with a two-shot lead at Leopard Creek in South Africa.

The Swede, who won his only title so far at the Betfred British Masters more than five years ago, began the day three strokes clear but was caught at the top of the leaderboard after nine holes. He rallied on the back nine, though, with a birdie at the last helping him sign for a 69 to reach 14 under par.

Home favourite Ryan van Velzen was alone in second on 12 under after firing an eagle and five birdies in his flawless 65, with Dutchman Darius van Driel in third.

Englishman Matthew Southgate was one of five players in a tie for fourth on 10 under.

Northern Ireland’s Tom McKibbin carded a three-under 69 to move to five under and a share of 23rd position.

Kinhult, who made a total of six birdies and three bogeys in much cooler conditions than the first two days in South Africa, said: “Sleeping on a lead is not easy, I think.

“It’s only Saturday so it wasn’t that bad – I actually slept all right last night and hope I will tonight again.

“I enjoy playing this golf course and I look forward to the challenge tomorrow.”
