Kevin Kisner comes through six-man playoff to win Wyndham

Séamus Power finishes with a 68 to head into FedEx Cup playoffs with some form

Kevin Kisner came out on top to celebrate his 10th professional win as history was made at the Wyndham Championship with six players involved in a play-off for the first time on the PGA Tour.

American duo Kisner and Kevin Na, South Korean Si Woo Kim, Australia’s Adam Scott, Roger Sloan of Canada plus South Africa’s Branden Grace all finished 15 under following the fourth round in North Carolina.

A final round of 68 saw Séamus Power finish in a tie for 60th at three under par, moving the Waterford man up seven places in the FedEx Cup standings.

That means Power - who claimed his first PGA Tour win last month at the Barbasol Championship - goes into next week’s first playoff event at 73rd in the standings.

After the Northern Trust, the top 70 in the standings will progress again to the BMW Championship.

Starting on the 10th on Sunday, Power completed a bogey-free round with birdies at the 14th and the first. He will be joined in the field for next week’s first playoff event by Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry.

Kisner, for whom this was his fourth PGA Tour triumph, claimed victory by one shot on the second play-off hole after a final-round 66 that included six birdies and two bogeys.

Overnight leader Russell Henley finished a shot further back in a three-way tie for seventh after a final round score of 71 left the American 14 under par alongside compatriots Webb Simpson and Kevin Streelman.

England’s Justin Rose finished two shots off the pace after a 67 on Sunday that included an eagle on the fifth, four birdies and three bogeys to complete his weekend in a five-way tie for 10th.

A three-putt bogey on the last hole was a huge blow for Rose as it dropped him down to 126th on the FedEx Cup standings, missing out on the playoffs by one spot. However, as a result of his career earnings he will still maintain a PGA Tour card for next season.

The same can’t be said for Tommy Fleetwood who finished 137th in the standings, meaning he loses his card for next season and will instead have to rely on invites.
