Wales flanker Colin Charvis and Argentinian prop Roberto Grau were late last night banned for their countries' remaining World Cup group games.

Charvis and Grau appeared at a World Cup disciplinary hearing in Cardiff after being cited for punching during last Friday's tournament opener between Wales and Argentina at the Millennium Stadium.

Charvis received a 14-day suspension while Grau was banned for 21 days following a hearing that lasted more than two hours.

It means Swansea flanker Charvis will miss remaining Pool D matches against Japan and Samoa, while Saracens prop Grau must sit out his side's World Cup appointments with the same opposition.

World Cup organisers have already cited three other players even though the tournament only began three days ago.

Samoan prop Brendan Reidy, Tongan full-back Siua Taumalolo and Spanish lock Jose Miguel Villau will appear before disciplinary panels at Twickenham today.

Earlier Grau, accused of gouging Wales hooker Garin Jenkins' eye during the same match, was cleared of that charge.
