John Hartson faces a sleepless night before discovering whether he has become Martin O'Neill's second summer signing at Parkhead. Coventry striker Hartson flew into Edinburgh Airport yesterday and the 26-year-old quickly agreed personal terms before undergoing his medical. The Welsh international is with his agent Jonathan Barnett in Parkhead. Celtic have until today to tie up the deal in time for him to play in the third qualifying-round tie of the Champions League against Dutch giants Ajax.

Holland winger Boudewijn Zenden has left Barcelona's pre-season training camp in Switzerland and travelled to Brussels to negotiate a move away from the Nou Camp. Zenden, (24), has been a peripheral figure at Barcelona following his move from PSV Eindhoven in 1998. Chelsea are one of the clubs being linked to the player.
