Bohemians 0 Dundalk 1:COLIN HAWKINS' header gave Dundalk their first win at Dalymount in 18 years, but it was three points that was never deserved. Outplayed for much of the game, Dundalk struck for the game's only goal on 80 minutes. Greg Bolger's whipped a diagonal free-kick into the area and central defender Hawkins directed his header past Chris O'Connor.
Bohemians dominated the first half. Killian Brennan shot wide on six minutes. Four minutes later, Dundalk’s Michael Hector got a header to Daniel Kearns’ free kick which O’Connor gathered.
When Dundalk were caught on a counterattack, Peter Cherrie narrowed the angle and then parried away Anto Flood’s drive.
Cherrie then tipped over Brennan’s free-kick after half an hour and five minutes later he palmed away a drive from Chris Forrester as Bohs continued to press. The teenager worked Cherrie again minutes later with a low shot.
Bohemians continued to boss affairs after the interval. An error by Cherrie dropped to Flood forcing Bolger to clear off the line.
A terrific move down the left exposed Dundalk again on 53 minutes but Stephen Traynor’s header hit the side-netting. Hawkins then denied Flood with a crucial tackle.
Dundalk didn’t create a chance until the 75th minute when O’Connor saved from Jason Byrne. Incredibly, Hawkins struck to win it for them five minutes later.
