Congratulations to Breda Mangan, who recorded the best ever score in a singles competition at Edenderry last week. Her tally of 49 stableford points gave her victory by six shots and saw her handicap cut by six to 28. It was an almost identical story at County Meath where 18-handicapper Grace Collins also returned 49 points to win the hamper competition by six. Gill McKechnie's 49 points in Youghal gave her just two points to spare over Helen Keane.
Par competitions don't often produce such stunning results but Mary O'Rourke certainly had more pluses than minuses in her brilliant 10 up off 25 over the Mahony's Point course in Killarney.
