Michael Hoey held his nerve to edge out Wales's Liam Bond at the Riva dei Tessali and claim his second Challenge Tour title.

Michael Hoey held his nerve to edge out Wales's Liam Bond at the Riva dei Tessali and claim his second Challenge Tour title.

The 28-year-old from Belfast, who held a one shot lead going into today's final round, needed a birdie at the last to force a play-off with Bond.

Hoey, who lost his full European Tour card last year, then prevailed in the decider to claim the winner's cheque of €20,800.

Stephen Browne, Damian Mooney and Michael McGeady all missed the halfway cut.
