WOMEN'S HOCKEY:IT'S A quiet weekend on the club front, with Monday's bank holiday and the Intervarsity tournament in Kilkenny, which starts on Sunday, combining to produce a sparse fixture list, with just two First Division matches in Leinster and none in Munster, writes Mary Hannigan

Three of the teams that made successful debuts in the Irish Hockey League last weekend, Loreto, Pembroke Wanderers and Hermes, are in action, with Pembroke and Hermes meeting at Serpentine Avenue.

Loreto host Corinthian at Beaufort, buoyed by their display against Belfast Harlequins a week ago when Zara Delany scored a hat-trick in just eight minutes in their 5-2 victory.

UCC open the defence of the Chilean Cup they won in Belfast a year ago, when they beat UCD in the final, in Kilkenny on Sunday, with the semi-finals and final of the tournament on Tuesday.
