CHAMPIONS LEAGUE PLAY-OFFS FIRST LEG:ARJEN ROBBEN set up the first goal and scored a superb second to give Bayern Munich a comfortable 2-0 win over FC Zurich in the first leg of their Champions League play-off last night.
Robben provided the cross for Bastian Schweinsteiger to head Bayern ahead in the eighth minute and curled in the second after 72 minutes as the German side dominated the Swiss outsiders in Munich.
Dinamo Zagreb scored three second-half goals to beat Malmo 4-1 in the Croatian capital.
The Swedish side, who knocked out Rangers in the last round, were well placed at half-time with the score at 1-1, Agon Mehmeti cancelling out Jorge Sammir’s early goal for the home side.
But Dinamo seized the initiative after the break. Ante Rukavina restored their lead in the 54th minute, Sammir got his second from the penalty spot and Milan Badelj made it four six minutes from time.
Odense claimed a 1-0 win at home to Spanish side Villarreal thanks to Henrik Andreasen’s 84th-minute effort.
Genk scored an important away goal in a 2-1 defeat to Maccabi Haifa. The Israelis were in the ascendancy when goals from Weam Amasha and Vladimir Dvalishvili put them 2-0 up before the half-hour mark, but Israel international Elyaniv Barda brought Genk right back into the tie by pulling one back in the 61st minute.
Wisla Krakow won 1-0 at home to Apoel Nicosia, Patryk Malecki on target 19 minutes from time.
