CALEDONIA, formerly known as Scottish North and Midlands, will be without five internationals, all injured, for the European Cup match against Ulster at the St Johnstone soccer ground in Perth on Sunday.
They are the Scotland captain Rob Wainwright, Stuart Campbell, Kevin Mackenzie, John Manson and Kenny Logan.
Caledonia will have internationals Rowan Shepherd at full back and David McIvor on the flank. They also have A internationals in centre Paul Rouse, wing John Kerr and prop Tom Smith.
Matches between Llanelli and Leinster were played on a regular basis for many years, but dash at Stradey Park in the European Cup on Saturday, will, of course, be of a different dimension.
Llanelli, no less than Leinster, have injury problems and will be without three international backs, full back Wayne Proctor (concussion), wing Ieuan Evans (ankle injury) and centre Nigel Davies (knee ligaments).
They will, nonetheless, be able to select a side that includes internationals Neil Boobyer and Mark Wintle in the centre, former All Black and rugby league international Frano Botica at out-half and Rupert Moon at scrum-half. All three members of the front row - Ricky Evans, Robin McBryde and Spencer John - are internationals, as is second row Mike Voyle, who is expected to be fit after chipping a bone in his neck.
It has been a mixed season for Llanelli who had good wins over Cardiff and Swansea and also beat Newport in the Welsh league, but have lost to Bridgend, Neath, Caerphilly and Pontypridd. They also lost to Sale in the AngloWelsh league and drew with Bath when both teams were very much understrength.
Milan, who lost 24-21 to Leinster in the European Cup last season, face Munster at Musgrave Park. Milan can call on a whole team of internationals and the side will be substantially on the lines of the side that faced Leinster last season.
Six of the side that will face Munster played for Italy in the 31-22 defeat by Wales in Rome last Saturday. They include outside half Diego Dominguez, who, of course, has also played for Argentina.
