Churchill Cup/Ireland A 22 Scotland A 21:Frank Murphy, Roger Wilson and Keith Earls scored tries for Ireland A as they held on by the narrowest of margins to win the Churchill Cup Plate final at Twickenham on Saturday.
The victory should give the senior management plenty to think about when they return from Argentina.
"There is plenty to choose from," said Ireland A coach Michael Bradley. "In the three matches we've played, the players have been fully aware that it gives them an opportunity to show their form to (coach) Eddie O'Sullivan and (assistant) Niall O'Donovan.
"We give them feedback as well and I would say that there are four or five players that have put their hands up for selection."
Murphy charged down Rob Crystie's kick before touching down for the first try, with Wilson adding the second after a stray pass went beyond the deadball area to put Scotland under pressure.
Scott Lawson squeezed in at the corner and Calum MacRae's penalty from inside his own half got Scotland back into it, although they could not take advantage of Ryan Caldwell getting sent to the sin bin for a clash with Mark Rennie.
Bradley added: "We were lucky there was half-time in the middle of the sin binning, we were also lucky that Ryan was allowed back on the pitch after throwing a punch. It could have gone either way on the call."
Earls' try established a cushion, leaving Scotland needing a penalty and a converted try to win. MacRae scored the penalty, Thom Evans added the try, but MacRae missed the conversion and Ireland held on.
