IRELAND narrowly failed to qualify for the semi final round stages of the European Basketball Championship, in spite of defeating Denmark and Luxembourg in their final two challenge group games in Iceland over the weekend.

With only one victory from their opening three matches, Ireland produced a stunning performance on Saturday night to beat the Danes 78-76.

Ireland ended their campaign last night with an emphatic 115-81 victory over Luxembourg. However, they lost out on the second qualification spot in the group to Iceland on points.
