On day eight of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics Gary O'Reilly followed up on yesterday's bronze medal with a fourth place finish in the H5 road race. Niamh McCarthy finished fifth in the F41 discus final. In the pool, Róisín Ní Riain is into the 100m breaststroke - SB13 final at 11.09am, and Ellen Keane is into the finals of the 200m individual medley - SM9 at 10.40am. In his column this morning (Subscriber Only), Darragh Ó Sé is looking back on last weekend's All-Ireland football semi-final. Meanwhile, Germany's Alexander Zverev got his bid for a maiden Major off to a smooth start by beating American Sam Querrey 6-4 7-5 6-2 in the first round of the US Open. The win extended his unbeaten streak to 12, after he beat Novak Djokovic in the Tokyo semi-finals to win Olympic gold and walked away with the Western & Southern Open title earlier this month.
