Honours were shared in the pitch and putt exhibition match to mark the opening of the new course at Groningen in the Netherlands when Marina O'Rourke (Cloghogue), the Irish strokeplay champion and Ray Murphy (Templebreedy) came from two back to square the match of the 18th against the home pair of Herma Olthuis and Rinus Huberts. Murphy, however, won the two open competitions at Groningen and Koekange held in conjunction with the exhibition match.

Murphy will lead a strong Irish team when they open the defence of their European Pitch and Putt title at Lloret Papalus, north of Barcelona from May 3rd to 5th. Sean Downes, Sean Harkin, Derry McCarthy, Mark Millar, Chris Scannell and Derek Courtney will join the Templebreedy man.
